When people meet Executive Trainees (or “ETs”), they aren’t always sure what to expect. Does the name mean we’re from outer space? Do we get special training in how to smoke cigars, wear pin-stripe suits and stroke white cats while spinning in an office chair?
The answer is, fortunately, none of the above. The ET programme provides a generalist experience over 2 years with a series of 6-month placements. This allows a graduate to form an overview of HSBC’s multiple business lines. The long-term idea is to produce senior managers with strong experience across different areas of the bank.
